Latest survey information now available to researchers!

Thank you so much to the more than 8,000 of you who took part in the Life in Your Early 60s Survey. We are so grateful for your participation.

From this week, researchers now have access to this latest survey information. They will be able to use it in combination with information you’ve shared with us across the decades, to do new research on a range of important topics.

Listen to this personal thank you message from NCDS director, Professor George Ploubidis.

About the Life in Your Early 60s Survey

The Life in Your Early 60s Survey involved an interview, two paper self-completion questionnaires, and an online dietary questionnaire. We covered some familiar topics, including relationships, family, work, and health. We also asked about your preparations for retirement.

After your interview, if you agreed to a health visit, a healthcare professional took measures of your weight, waist and hip circumference, blood pressure, balance and your walking pace. We also asked your permission to take a small blood sample to test for levels of cholesterol, glycated haemoglobin, triglycerides and C-reactive protein.

What happens next?

The information you shared in this latest survey will help us understand how your generation is getting along. Researchers will be able to use this, alongside information from previous surveys, to investigate important issues — from ageing in good health to expectations of the future.

The information available to researchers doesn’t contain names, addresses or other personal details that could identify you.

We will keep you up to date with new research findings, so you can see why your contributions to NCDS matter. Keep an eye out here and on our Facebook page.

Thank you again for continuing to be a part of this important study!
